SDNY COURTHOUSE, Dec 6 – Nakia Taylor sued NYPD and Officer Siani for breaking his jaw after a dispute about a taxi ride in 2017.

On December 6, 2022, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein presided over the trial. Inner City Press went and covered it.

Taylor's lawyer thanked the eight jurors including two alternates for their time, then recounted the story. Judge Hellerstein, who came off the bench to sit on the jurors' level, told her to stop mentioning race.

"It's his life experience," she said. Taylor has also moved for discovery abuse sanctions. His lawyers have noted that Siani has been sued before, for example in 17-cv-744 (RMB).

The trial continues. The case is Taylor v. City of New York, et al., 18-cv-8421 (Hellerstein)
