SDNY COURTHOUSE, Nov 29 – Jonathan Corbett sued to get a New York State gun license, after Governor Kathleen Hochul responded to the US Supreme Court's Bruen decision by imposing new requirements, including disclosing all social media accounts and training which he called excessive and prospectively too expensive.

He sought a preliminary injunction.

On November 29, 2022, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Lorna G. Schofield held a proceeding. Inner City Press covered it.

After questioning the parties - and the defendants citing a 1780 New York law about militias - Judge Schofield denied any preliminary injunction, finding no likelihood of success on the merits had been shown.

Corbett, who says his sealed gun permit application has been pending eight months, says he intends to appeal the decision, as well as to move to amend his complaint. Judge Scholfield suggested he submit a pre-motion letter.

The case is Corbett v. Hochul, 22-cv-5867 (Schofield)
