SDNY COURTHOUSE, June 4 â A
defendant extradited from Guatemala on drug trafficking
and firearms charges was presented in U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of New York Magistrates Court on
June 2. Inner City Press was there.
He was brought in with his feet shackled;
in Guatemala, he was transported surrounded by men with
machine guns. The charge is importation into the US of
more than five kilograms of cocaine, using machine
guns.
He was assigned a Federal Defender
and consented to detention.
The assigned District Judge Denise L. Cote,
it was said, would see him before the end of the
week.
She did so on June 4, and set his trial
date: February 16, 2027, with any defense motion due
October 16.
